Obituary

Dixie Lee Reed, 67, widow of Leon William Reed, Jr. of 406 Betsy Bell Road, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her residence
Mrs. Reed was born on October 24, 1949 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Mary Jane Bady.
Dixie was a member of Friendship Church, worked as a CNA at Western State Hospital, Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, and most recently at Baldwin Park. She was devoted to nursing and care giving and wanted to please and make others happy. Dixie enjoyed cooking for family and friends and catering for special events such as holidays and weddings. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and other family. She loved them dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a nephew, Kareem Bady.
Surviving is a daughter, Robin Michelle Bady; a son, Marcus M. Reed and his fiance Makeba Robinson; grandchildren, Adren Nicole Reed and son, Kamden Potts, Jaylin Reed, and Izaiah Reed; siblings, Alee Bady, Caldwell Bady and wife Carol, Robert Bady and wife Georgiana, Mary Pryor and Laura Bady; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, Destiny and son Kareem, Ricky and wife Ashley and children Tazia, Amani, Jayce; Candy and son Cedric; Tanika and children, Myquail and Dontae; Angela and husband Eric and children Robert and Reagan; Lucas and Alonzo; Yolanda and husband Melvin and their children, Tavin and Andren; and Vincent as well as other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; A special Godchild, MattieAngela and a special friend, Barbara Jones also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Doris Woodson and Major Robert Bady.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Marcus Reed, Vincent Bady, Ricky Bady, Melvin Brown, Bruce Brown, Melvin Marrow, and Joe Brent.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
