Dennis James Miller, 58, husband of Joni L. (Bell) Miller of 120 Locust Street, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Miller was born on September 14, 1955 in Staunton, a son of Ethyl Louise (Rhoades) Miller and the late David Albert Miller.
Dennis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He retired from Augusta County Public Schools in 2012 after 33 years of service in the bus maintenance department; he was a member of the Verona Moose and Staunton Eagles. Dennis greatest joys were caring for his grandchildren, fishing, boating and camping. He loved his cars and was fanatical about keeping them clean. His most memorable saying was Cmon Man.
In addition to his father, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Guy Miller.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Verona and wife of 33 years, are twin sons, Daniel J. Miller and his wife Rachel of Staunton and David L. Miller of Verona; a daughter, Sarah E. Palmieri and her husband Chris of Staunton; two grandchildren, Kaydence P. Williams and Dominick A. Palmieri and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Karen Taylor.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Basil Karr, Mike Simmons, Steve Ryder, Kermit Roberts, George Bullett, Aaron Snyder and Kevin Roadcap.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Augusta County Bus Garage.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 42 Neff Avenue, Suite 210, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
