Delmer L. Buddy Rexrode, 81, widower of Erma (McQuain) Rexrode formerly of Park Hill Road, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Envoy of Staunton.
Mr. Rexrode was born on April 2, 1935 in Highland County, Virginia, a son of the late Floyd W. and Lilly (Wimer) Rexrode.
Delmer retired from Smiths Transfer in 1987 after 22 years of service as a dock worker and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting, taking nature walks in the mountains, attending Bluegrass Festivals and watching baseball and football.
In addition to his parents and wife of 42 years, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Rosco E. Rexrode, Herbert Rexrode, Ralph Rexrode, Carl Rexrode and Curtis D. Rexrode; and two sisters, Maggie Wagner and Eva Puffenbarger.
Surviving is a son, Michael L. Mike Rexrode of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Wanda Carroll of Monterey; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Graveside service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Augusta Memorial Park by Rev. Bob Sharp.
