Deena Virginia (Hutchison) Whitecotton, 71, widow of Roger Dale Whitecotton of 48 Pleasant Valley Drive, Weyers Cave, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Whitecotton was born in Staunton, Virginia on January 24, 1950, a daughter of the late Garland Milton Hutchison, Sr. and Marlene Virginia (Newman) Hutchison.
Deena worked numerous jobs in the area as an executive cook.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Whitecotton was preceded in death by a son, Timothy B. Whitecotton; and two brothers, Garland Milton "G.M." Hutchison, Jr. and Dennis Hutchison.
Surviving is a daughter, Penny S. Whitecotton; a son, Phillip L. Whitecotton and his wife Sheila; and an adopted daughter, Adrienne Smith, all of Weyers Cave; a brother, James Hutchison and his wife Susan of Verona; a sister, Pam Sipe and her husband Bill of Mt. Sidney; a very special cousin, Dwight Chenault of Bumpass; and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
A private graveside service will be held at Thornrose Cemetery.

The children would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to Deena's caregivers from Sentara Hospice and the staff and doctors at Sentara Rockingham Memorial for the excellent care they gave their mother.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
