Deborah Gail Debbie Meek, 56, of 362 Dooms Crossing Road, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her residence.
Miss Meek was born in Waynesboro on April 24, 1957, a daughter of the late John F., Sr. and Mattie (Gayhart) Meek.
Debbie was a member of the Smyrna Presbyterian Church. She was the light of the Meek family of whom she was surrounded by at the time of her passing.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by a brother, John F. Meek, Jr. and three sisters, Sylvia (Meek) Boone, Stella (Meek) Batten and Carolyn (Meek) Craig.
Surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jo Towler and husband David with whom she made her home and Dora Ann Peery and husband Grover all of Waynesboro; five brothers and sisters-in-law; R.M. Meek and wife Bonnie, David Butch Meek and wife Arleen, Randy Meek and wife Lucille, Kenneth Meek and wife Peggy, all of Waynesboro and Lloyd Meek and wife Deena of Greenville; brothers-in-law, Gerald Pinky Boone of Roanoke, Hugh Batten, Jr. of Ruckersville and Buddy R. Craig of Verona; sister-in-law, Mary Meek of Waynesboro; twenty-seven nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews and many special friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and the residence at other times.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Patrick Pettit.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Michael Meek, Jr., Phillip Boone, Darrell Meek, Randy Meek, Jr., Kenny L. Meek, Jr., Kevin Cash, Chris Peery and Benji Cash.
Honorary pallbearers will be the nieces and nephews attending the service.
It is suggested those desiring make contributions to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Sheri Tratnack, RN, FPN for the love, compassion and medical care she gave Debbie throughout the years and to the Augusta Health Hospice nurses, Carol Showalter and staff who helped care for Debbie.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
