David Franklin Wilkins, Sr., 46, of 3 Our Lane, Stuarts Draft passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Wilkins was born October 7, 1962 in Waynesboro, a son of Clarence D. and Shirley A. (Lilley) Wilkins.
David was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Fishersville Baptist Church. He was employed with Virginia/Dominion Power for twenty years and most recently with Wackenhut Corporation as a security guard at Augusta Health and he enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
David was a very caring and compassionate young man who was strong in his faith, having accepted the Lord as his savior. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Ellen Suggs in 2003; his paternal grandfather, Lawrence D. Wilkins; and maternal grandparents, Glen and Lula Lilley.
In addition to his parents of Stuarts Draft, David is survived by a son, David F. Wilkins, Jr., U.S. Army stationed in Alabama; a brother-in-law and his wife, Philip W. and Jenny B. Suggs of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; paternal grandmother, Alma M. Wilkins of Fishersville, an uncle and his wife, Jim and Stella Lilley of Fishersville; four aunts, Tammy Wilkins of Fishersville, Ileen Galford of Staunton, Mabel Arehart and Beulah Swisher both of Stuarts Draft; nephews, Austin and Brady Suggs of Myrtle Beach, SC; special cousins, Rodger and Janet Swisher, Shawn and Melissa Swisher, Frank and JoAnn Swisher all of Staunton; special friends, Wallace and Juanita Poole of Brownsburg; a number of cousins and his special little pet dog Dylan.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Monday August 31, 2009 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Tom Crib, Pastor John Hamric and Chaplain Joe McGugan.
The family will receive friends at the home of his parents, Clarence and Shirley Wilkins, 3 Our Lane, Stuarts Draft, at anytime.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of his arrangements.
