David Wayne Surratt, 75, of Fishersville, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet C. (Coughlan) Surratt, with whom he shared twenty-seven wonderful years.

Mr. Surratt was born in Staunton, Virginia on March 23, 1947, a son of the late Chester Surratt, Sr. and Dorothy (Lotts) Surratt.

David was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was a business man of over 60 years in Staunton and the surrounding areas, as the owner and operator of Tire Mart and the CEO of DWS Properties. Mr. Surratt was a "self-made man".  He was a life member of the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad and enjoyed farming, tending to his orchard, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Surratt was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Surratt and John Surratt; and two brothers, Chester Surratt, Jr. and Daniel L. Surratt.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Tim W. Surratt and his wife Julia of Weyers Cave, Matt David Surratt and his wife Amanda of Fishersville, and Stuart Dixon and his wife Heather of Oakland, California; two daughters, Peyton Martin and her husband Corey of Powhatan, and Anne Bell and her husband Lee of Staunton; a sister, Linda Smith and her husband Jerry of Staunton; thirteen grandchildren, Brandie and her husband Chuck, Sarah, Hannah, Tiffany, Charlotte, Clara, Stephen, Sadie, Silas, Gus, Gray, Maddox and Brittany; and one great-grandchild, Scottie.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Covenant Presbyterian Church by Reverend John C. Peterson. At this time, masks are required inside the church.

A private burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Tim Surratt, Matt Surratt, Stuart Dixon, Robbie Miller, Keith Clark and Mike Widner.
