David Eugene Ellinger, 76, husband of Patricia J. Ellinger, of Staunton passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Ellinger was born on December 8, 1941 in Augusta County, a son of the late Travis and Nellie (Spitler) Ellinger.

David was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and retired from James Madison University in 1999. He loved his children and grandchildren. David was a kind and loving person, and will be greatly missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-one years, are two daughters, Lisa M. Ellinger and her husband David E. Jones of Chester and Krista S. Dudley and her husband Patrick W. Dudley of Staunton; and two grandchildren, Sarah E. Dudley and Rebekah L. Dudley.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by Pastor John M. Ward. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to the Augusta County Rescue Squads for their quick responses and to Dr. John Marsh and his staff for the special care given to David during his illness.
