Obituary

Dudley Armistead of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Dudley's priority in life was building a strong and loving family with his wife of 50 years, Deborah Kay (Campbell) Armistead (Debbie). In addition to Debbie, he is survived by their two children, Keller Armistead and David Armistead III (Mandy); and grandchildren David Armistead IV, and Mandy's children Ansley and Graydon. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Schanzlin (David) and Linda Brown; his brother, Keith (Ann); and thirty-five nieces and nephews.

Dudley was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on July 7, 1947, the son of David and Bernice (Cave) Armistead. He earned his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech and his graduate degree at the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. A dedicated and respected member of the business community, Dudley served in the banking industry for over 50 years. He was also a long-time member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia.

A graveside service for Dudley will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery, 3000 Fort Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503 at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 by Pastor Mike Coffey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 1501 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503.

The family sincerely thanks everyone for their outpouring of love and sympathy.
