Darlene Ray Chittum, 61, of Grottoes, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 following a short illness, surrounded by her family.

Ms. Chittum was born in Lexington, Virginia on December 27, 1961, a daughter of Mary Virginia (Strickler) Chittum and the late Harry Raymond "Ray" Chittum.

Darlene was a member of Old Providence A.R.P. Church. She enjoyed sports, watching T.V., fishing, and flower and vegetable gardening. Darlene had a special love for animals, especially her pet furry friends "Oakley", "Kimber", "Katory" and "Chaz".

Surviving, in addition to her mother of Crimora, is her partner, Debra Tutt of Grottoes; a step-sister, Tandy Staton; extended family, Sharon Gibson and family, Kimmie Campbell and family, Joel Tutt and family; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
