Danny William Grogg, Sr., 63, of 14 Lee Street, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Grogg was born on March 21, 1955 in Rockbridge County, a son
of the late Wilmer Donald and Jessie Thelma (Harper) Grogg.
Danny attended the Little River Church of the Brethren and retired from the Augusta County Service Authority as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed watching western movies, NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Grogg was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Roy Grogg; four sisters, Shirley Sue (Grogg) Colvin, Elsie Pauline (Grogg) Coffman, Linda Alice (Grogg) Campbell, and Sarah Ruth Grogg.
Surviving is his companion of twenty years, Teresa T. Mayne of Verona; son, Danny William "D.W." Grogg, Jr. and his wife Shannon of Staunton; a daughter, Candace Galaviz and her husband Jose of Colorado Springs, CO;
step-children, Charles Wesley Phillips and his wife Betty of Swansboro, NC, Debora Michelle Phillips and her friend Ed Trobew of Raphine, and Thomas Lee Phillips of Staunton; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie Leona Pannell and her husband William of Afton, Willie Mae Hayes and her husband Donald of Craigsville, and Martha Helena Pannell of Verona; special niece, Renee Nestor and her husband Chad; and numerous other nieces and nephews survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William "Bill" Trice.
Burial will follow in the Craigsville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff May, E.G. Pannell, Darrell Hayes, Junior Pannell, J.B. Graham, and Jose Galaviz.
