DANNY H. ALMARODE
GREENVILLE:
Danny Hawkins Almarode 70, husband of Louale Lou" (Harris) Almarode, of 71 Pine Glenn Lane, P.O. Box 205 Greenville, VA 24440, passed away Friday evening, February 13, 2009 in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mr. Almarode was born August 30, 1938 in Raphine, a son of the late Walter Thomas and Nora (Hawkins) Almarode.
Danny attended Bethel Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Augusta Masonic Lodge #111 AF\u0026AM for over 40 years. Mr. Almarode worked as Operations Manager for several trucking companies including Associated Transport, Boward Trucking, Edwards Trucking, Crosby Trucking, Sealtest Distribution Center and most recently retired from Alcoa as a Driver in the Logistics Division. He was also a school bus driver for Augusta County Schools.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Almarode was preceded in death by a grandson Nathaniel Lane Almarode.
Survivors in addition to his wife, to whom he was married on January 29, 1960, include a son and daughter-in-law, Derek Todd Almarode and his wife Cindy W., a granddaughter whom he cherished, Ashlyn Layne Almarode all of Staunton; his mother-in-law, Gladys P. Harris of Greenville; a brother and sister-in-law, Taylor H. Almarode and his wife Allene T. McCoy of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Marie Lindsey of Boise, ID and Rosa Lee Myrtle and her husband Burl of Woodstock, several nieces and nephews also survive and his special pet Pomeranian Herbie.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Nodine, Ben Edwards, Larry Harris, Chris Harris, Rodney Harris, George Cox, Jim Almarode, Ron Almarode and Scott Fielding.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Craig, III, Jan Almarode, John Almarode, Joe Almarode, Donnie Harris, Charlie Lamb, Beryl Lunsford, Jeff Eavey, Tony Shifflett, Tony Heflin, Eddie Mock and Dr. Bill Forbes.
A celebration of Dannys life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (February 17, 2009) in the Bethel Presbyterian Church by the Reverends Joel Thornton and Clifford D. Caldwell.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Augusta Masonic Lodge #111 AF\u0026AM.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening, February 16, 2009 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or at his residence at other times.
