Daniel Richard Ford, 69, husband of Winifred M. Fitzgerald, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mr. Ford was born in Danbury, Connecticut on August 26, 1952, a son of the late Edward Ford and Lois Ford.
Daniel was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Staunton and a longtime member of St. George Catholic Church in Scottsville. He was a member of the Rosary Makers and Purls of Faith. Mr. Ford enjoyed woodworking, researching genealogy, and was a gentle and loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine E. Ford, who was the mother of his children.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of eight years, is a daughter, Megan Catherine (Ford) Gilmer and her husband Sam of Scottsville; a son, Brian Daniel Ford of Scottsville; three brothers, Douglas Edward Ford of Danbury, CT, Michael William Ford and his wife Sue of New Milford, CT and Andrew Russell Ford and his wife Rachael of Huntington, IN; a sister, Carolyn Mary Ford-King of New Milford, CT; a granddaughter, Ivy Elizabeth Gilmer, who was the apple of his eye; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Father David Mott.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. George Catholic Church in Scottsville, by Father David Mott.
Inurnment and reception will follow.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Rose Weaver, 85 Hereford Drive, Fishersville, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's honor to St. George Catholic Church, 7240 Scottsville Rd, Scottsville, VA 24590 or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 N. New St, Staunton, VA 24401.
The family would like to express a special "Thank you" to Sue Holmes, his devoted caregiver.
