Dana Lee (Howdyshell) Whitt, 65, wife of James E. Whitt, of Staunton, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Whitt was born on March 1, 1950 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Earl and Lela (Long) Howdyshell-Holsinger.
Dana was a member of the New Covenant Church, where she enjoyed worshipping. She was employed with Augusta County as a Custodian, loved her family and her dog, Little Bit, enjoyed her Gospel and Bluegrass music, cooking, being in the mountains and was a loving and selfless person.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Barbara Smith and her husband David of Verona; a sister, Beverley Deane and her husband Arthur of Florida; four grandchildren, Stephanie Woods, Adam Brown, Ariel Salisbury and Jordan Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Laraven, Corde, Taleah, Hezekiah, Drayden, Daynaah and Jalayah also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Donald Cash.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be David Botkin, John Lotts, Gary "Butterball" Ritchie, Johnny Brown, Donald Reese and Ed Guffey.
