Dallas Grover Loan's Obituary

Dallas Grover Loan, 85, husband of Martha Louise (Stanley) Loan of Stuarts Draft, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 in Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.

He was born December 1, 1926 in Augusta County, a son of the late Harvey Arnold Loan and Gertrude (Glendye) Loan Lotts.

Mr. Loan was a very active member of Stonewall United Methodist Church and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He had a very strong work ethic and was previously employed with Crompton for thirty years, Stanley Furniture for eight years and retired from Hersey Chocolate in 2003 after ten years of service. He was a very loyal member of his church and sang in the church choir. He was an avid New York Yankee Fan and enjoyed playing baseball himself. He also enjoyed playing music, traveling and listening to Hank Williams.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Loan was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hartman Loan and a sister, Reva Loan.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years are two sons, Paul A. Loan and his wife Michelle of Stokesdale, NC and Glenn H. Loan and his wife Angela of Waynesboro; a brother, Denver C. Loan of Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Amy Dunford of Staunton, Jason Loan of Waynesboro, Athena Mabry of Waynesboro, Amanda Galicia of Staunton and CSSN Zechariah Loan, USS Carl Vinson, San Diego, CA; seven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Chapel by Pastor Mary Pysell and Rev. Robert VanGilder.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 in the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Active pallbearers will be Preston Dunford, James Mabry, Clarence Hodge, Jr. Roxy Liptrap, Billy Tuning, Danny Tampa, David Desper and Donald D.J. Martin.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Shenandoah, PO Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
