DAISY S. BROOKS
Daisy Irene (Sprouse) Ellinger Brooks, 81, widow of the late John L. Brooks, of 114 Straith Street, passed away Wednesday (April 29, 2009) at Envoy of Staunton.
Mrs. Brooks was born on June 17, 1927 in Craigsville,
a daughter of the late Wilford A. and Theressie E. (Bazzrea) Sprouse.
Daisy was a member of the Apostolic United Pentecostal Church, the Teamsters Local Union # 29 and was retired from ConAgra Foods.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas H. Ellinger; five brothers and one sister.
Surviving are three sons, Delmas W. Ellinger of Staunton, Delbert A. Ellinger and his friend Cheryl Eavey of Waynesboro and Danny E. Ellinger of Raphine; a daughter and son-in-law, Deltha Woodson and her husband Kenneth of Staunton; a brother, Al Sprouse and his wife Shirley of Stuarts Draft; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (May 2, 2009) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Cecil R. Hutchings. Burial will follow in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening (May 1, 2009) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Deltha and Kenneth Woodson, 121 South Waverly Street, Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Sprouse, Steven Sprouse, Wilford Sprouse, Harry Sprouse, Jr., Raymond Wells and Wayne Martin.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Apostolic United Pentecostal Church, 810 Norfolk Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is handling her arrangements.
