Constance Gail "Connie" (Armstrong) Townsend, 75, wife of Neil Townsend of Davis Street, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Townsend was born in Williamsville, Virginia on August 31, 1945, a daughter of the late William Arlie and Margie Mae (Ervine) Armstrong.
Connie was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was in the first graduating class of Highland High School in 1964. Connie retired from the YMCA where she worked at the front desk, greeting members and visitors with her beautiful smile each day.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by seven siblings, Mildred Clements, Betty Griffin, Arlene Trayer, Buck Armstrong, Glen Armstrong, Sham Armstrong, and Polly Ritchie.
Surviving in addition to her husband of fifty-six years, is a daughter, Julie Green and her husband Richard; four grandchildren, Brandon Neff, Clay Graves, Neil Green, and Hope Green; a great-granddaughter, Polly Graves; two sisters, Faye Colaw and Dottie Mitchell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend Wade Munford, Pastor Kevin Persinger, and Carol Byrd.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Green, Brandon Neff, Neil Green, Robbie Trayer, Rick Burnette, and Steve Clements.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
