Connie Lee Rankin, 68, husband of Jatanna Kay (Powers) Rankin of 30 Kenwood Place, Verona passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 in the Shenandoah House in Fishersville, with the ones he loved by his side.
Mr. Rankin was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on April 3, 1952 the son of the late George Benjamin and Pauline Mae (Hyden) Rankin.
Connie and his mother owned Beverley News for years and then he was employed with Kroger in Staunton in the meat department until he retired due to his health. To know Connie was to love Connie, he never met a stranger and people loved him. He enjoyed auctions, antiquing, Jeff Gordon, and was a big Virginia Cavaliers fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Grant, brothers-in-law, Delbert McQuain, Kenny Grant, and Steve Nuckoles, and a special nephew, Stacey Nuckoles.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty years, is a step-son, James Humphreys of Staunton; three sisters, Janet K. Nuckoles of Staunton, Gloria R. McQuain of Fishersville, and Brenda R. Whetsell and her husband Tom of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; two grandchildren that he loved dearly, Kimberly Humphreys of Verona and Jessica Guy and her husband Brandon of Staunton; one niece and numerous nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A private graveside service will be held in Augusta Memorial Park by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.
The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to Beverly Brown and Cindy Pender with Hospice for being there for Connie and the family. Also a special "Thank You" to the wonderful staff at Shenandoah House.
