Cody Miller

MIDDLEBROOK

John Cody Miller, 17, of 1365 Walker Creek Road passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Cody was born in Fishersville on September 19, 1994, a son of John Larry Miller of Stuarts Draft and Audra Lynne (Hemp) McCray of Middlebrook.
Cody was a senior at Riverheads High School and was to graduate with the class of 2012. He attended Greenville United Methodist Church, he enjoyed all outdoor activities and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert L. Paw Paw Camden.
Surviving in addition to his parents is his step-father, Tim McCray of Middlebrook; five brothers, James Fix of Lyndhurst, Nathan Fix of Staunton, LCPL Evan Fix of Cherry Point, NC, Matt Mawyer of Stuarts Draft and Matt McCray of Middlebrook; two sisters, Shania Miller of Stuarts Draft and Jess McCray of Middlebrook; paternal grandmother, Judy Camden Wolfe of Greenville; maternal grandparents, James R. and Arline Hemp and Bonnie Gilliam of Staunton; maternal great-grandparents, George and Abbie Basham of Greenville; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the Greenville United Methodist Church by Dr. Rev. Kevin Haynes and Pastor Greg Czerniak.
Burial will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery in Middlebrook.
Active pallbearers will be Codys brothers, James Fix, Nathan Fix, LCPL Evan Fix, Matt Mawyer, Matt McCray and his cousins, Anthony Carpenter, Trey Hemp, Josh Hemp, Jordi Hemp.
Honorary pallbearers Krystal Fridley, Kyndall Fridley, Kyden Harris, Taz and Colt Miller, Reba and Payton Miller, Brooke Eavers, Danielle Hanger, Christina Carpenter, Cherokee Hemp, Randi Leigh Nuckoles, Clay Falls, Levi Hemp, Hailey Hemp, Austin Cross, Lance Cross, Jackie Spradlin, Mike Allman, Jennifer White, Logan McCray, Cash McCray and Riverheads Senior Class of 2012 and friends.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, his residence or the home of his grandmother, Judy Wolfe, 3771 Cold Springs Road, Raphine.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Greenville United Methodist Church Youth Group, Post Office Box 250, Greenville VA 24440 or to the Walkers Creek Fire Department, 3964 Walkers Creek Road, Middlebrook VA 24459.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
