Coda Vinston Hurst, Jr., 86, widower of Margaret Ellen (Nuckols) Hurst of Staunton, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Hundley Center in South Hill, Virginia.

Mr. Hurst was born in Hiwassee, Virginia on June 16, 1936 a son of the late Coda Vinston Hurst, Sr. and Bessie Lee (Quesenberry) Hurst.

Coda worked a number of years at the DeJarnette Center and retired from the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hurst and a sister, Christine Hurst.

Surviving, is a son, Jeffrey V. Hurst and wife Donna of Verona; three daughters, Pamela H. Duggins of Kenbridge, Robin E. Williams and husband Eddie of Spotsylvania, and Karen H. Cox and husband Steven of Bristol; a sister, Betty Gangwer of Jacksonville, NC; five grandchildren, Jason Williams and wife Jill, Justin Williams and wife Leslie, Joshua Propst, Bryan Runion and wife Tara, and Ryan Ellen Hurst; and three great-grandchildren, Addyson Williams, Parker Runion, and Carson Runion.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory with a private graveside service following in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active Pallbearers will be grandchildren and Steve Cox.
