Claudine Fisher (Crickenberger) Wolfe, 95, widow of Arnold Lewis Wolfe, formerly of Old Laurel Hill Road passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mrs. Wolfe was born January 22, 1918 at Laurel Hill in Augusta County, a daughter of the late George Herman and Edna (Michael) Crickenberger.
Mrs. Wolfe was a life long member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was the Young Peoples Director, the Womens Missionary Union Director and past pianist and organist of the church. Mrs. Wolfe was a graduate of Mount Sidney High School and the Elizabeth Brant School of Business. Claudine was past President of the Staunton Business and Professional Womens Organization and the Verona Chapter #4518 AARP. She was also a member of the Gypsy Hill Chapter #3972 AAPR and was retired as an optometric assistant for John G. Hassett, O.D., Robert Hodges, O.D., Gary Hodges, O.D. and Ernest Schlabach, O.D.
Claudine was an avid reader and traveler who had traveled to Italy, Greece and throughout the United States. Over the years Mrs. Wolfe acquired a collection of holiday decorations that she used for decorating her home for all holidays.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wolfe was
preceded in death by a sister, Frances Meyerhoeffer; a brother, Harding Crickenberger and a half brother, Fred Crickenberger.
Survivors include a daughter, Carole (Wolfe) Butler Banks and her husband Don of Holyoke, MA; a half-sister, Faye Starrett of Reidsville, North Carolina; a grandson, E. Toppin Butler; a granddaughter, Alison B. Banks and her husband Cornell all of Harrisonburg; a great-grandson, Kyle Banks; a special nephew, Bobbie Meyerhoeffer and wife Peggy; two nieces, Connie Clingenpeel and Kay Thompson and two additional nephews, Richard Crickenberger and Tommy Crickenberger.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 in Laurel Hill Baptist Church by Pastor Wellford Tiller.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harold McAllister, Wayne McAllister, Kenneth Cleveland, Homer Western, Donn Meyerhoeffer, Dean Meyerhoeffer and Steve Riley.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Open Bible Sunday School Class.
