STAUNTON:

Christal Dionne Boo (Darcus) Dean, 40, wife of Dudley S. Dean of 405 Gooch Street passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Boo was born on August 7, 1972 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Tommy Lee Boy Darcus and Linda Marie (Douglas) Darcus.
Christal was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was the church clerk, a wonderful praise dancer and sang in the Inspirational Missionary Ministry Choir. Mrs. Dean was employed as a Pharmaceutical Tech at Kroger Pharmacy for 14 years. She was a graduate of Lee High School class of 1990, was a gold member of the Girl Scouts of America, Troop 923, was named Whos Who in American High School and crowned Miss Congeniality in the Miss Black America in the Beauty Pageant.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 4 years and her mother, both of Staunton are two brothers; Anthony L. Darcus of Staunton and Tyrone D. Darcus and wife Tammy Sue of Churchville; a special uncle, Wayne W. Anderson of Staunton; two nephews, Anthony D. Darcus and Christian Darcus; three nieces, Brittany Darcus, Anika Darcus and Jessica Darcus; a great special niece, Kayden Michelle Darcus; two very close and special cousins, Sharen Anderson and Karen Jones and her son Caleb; a pet dog Little Bitz special friend, Tanya Martin; and a number of additional nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 in the Ebenezer Baptist Church by Pastor Michael Turner and Pastor Debra Sams.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her brothers, Anthony L. Darcus and Tyrone D. Darcus, Wayne Anderson, Jonathan Fridley, Joseph Stuart, Jerome Simmons, Curtis Stilley, Caleb Jones and Johnny Simonetti.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times her residence.
