Charlotte King (Hanger) Dixon, 87, widow of John H. Dixon, Sr. of 14 Meadow Lane passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Dixon was born on January 7, 1927, in Augusta County a daughter of the late Arthur Scott and Anna King (Shickel) Hanger.
Charlotte was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. In 1941, at the age of fourteen, she began playing as the churchs organist and pianist, which continued for over seventy years. Music was an important part of Charlottes life, she served as pianist for the Mary Baldwin College Glee Club and she taught piano to more than a thousand students. Spending time with her family was one of Charlottes favorite interests.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by a son, John H. Scottie Dixon, Jr.; a granddaughter, Angela Dixon; two brothers, Richard Hanger, and W. Roncevert Hanger and a sister, Mary Catherine Hanger.
Mrs. Dixon was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Charlotte is survived by two sons, Ronald Ron Dixon of Mount Sidney, and Timothy Tim Dixon and wife Beverley of New Hope; five grandchildren, Amie Snyder, Kristopher Dixon, Heather Massey and husband Mike; Marla Bryant and husband David, and Michelle Brown and husband Phillip; two great grandchildren, Aaron Brown and Hanna Brown and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Rev. Lee Thomas and Mr. Don Reid.
The family will receive friends anytime at the residence.
