Charles K. Welliver
Charles Kimmel Welliver, 86, husband of MonaLee (Overdorf) Welliver of Staunton passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his residence.
Charles was born August 30, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late
Rupert Kimmel and Pernita (Owen) Welliver.
Following two years of U. S. Navy service, Mr. Welliver worked for Smiths Transfer for forty years as Maintenance Office Manager. He enjoyed flying with the Civil Air Patrol, was an avid ham radio operator, a member of the Mint Spring Ruritan Club and volunteered with the Valley Community Services Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Celeste Joy Welliver; a brother, Rupert J. Welliver and a sister, Marilla W. Martin.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two sons and a
daughter-in-law, Charles K. (Kim) Welliver, Jr. and his wife Mary of Arbor Hill and Sean Welliver of Staunton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mari W. Frazier and her husband Mike L. of Lynchburg, Lee W. Legard and her husband Mike C. of Chillicothe, OH and Martina B. Welliver of Staunton; six grandchildren, Matthew Frazier, Hannah Frazier, Sara Frazier, Isaac Frazier, Elese Frazier and Campbell Legard.
A celebration of life will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John Morrison.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends following the service.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Staunton/Augusta Rescue Squad, Post Office Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402 or a charity of your choice.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
