Charles Watson Jordan, Sr., 93, widower of Ruth (Epps) Jordan, of Fort Defiance, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Brookdale of Staunton.
Mr. Jordan was born in Fort Defiance on October 10, 1923, a son of the late Claude Wilson and Violet (Watson) Jordan.
Charles was an active member of the Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church, a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II, and retired from AT\u0026T, where he was employed as an Engineering Supervisor. He enjoyed sailing, home improvement projects, and tinkering and repairing various mechanical devices.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by
a son, Ted (Theodore) Thompson Jordan; two siblings, Katherine Kirby and Claude Buddy Jordan, Jr.
Surviving is a son, Charles W. Jordan, Jr. and his wife Linda of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Dana M. Flanders of Fort Defiance, Virginia; three grandchildren, Benjamin R. Jordan and wife Laura, Grayson E. Jordan and wife Heather, and Timothy A. Jordan and wife Mary Kate Law, and their mother, Mary Rust; step-grandchildren, Charlotte McPherson and Richard McPherson; five great-grandchildren, Violet M. Jordan, Charles F.K. Jordan, Thomas A.K. Jordan, Andrew M.K. Jordan, and Ruth R. Jordan; and several nieces also survive.
A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church by Rev. Beth McCrary.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
