Obituary

Charles Berlin "Jake" Hevener, 89, widower of Linda (Feathers) Hevener, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.

Mr. Hevener was born in Albemarle County, Virginia on June 25, 1932, a son of the late Charles Berlin Hevener, Sr. and Erma (Lambert) Hevener.

Mr. Hevener was a veteran of the Korean War in United States Army and a member of Staunton Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, reading and was a Civil War buff.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hevener was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hevener and three sisters, Mary Hevener, Ruby Hevener, and Kitty Stone.

Surviving, are his four children, Terry Hevener and Suzanne Axland of Columbia, SC, Daniel Hevener and Penny Rolon of Staunton, Timothy Hevener of Stuarts Draft, and Vivian Salwen and her husband Barry of Raleigh, NC; two step-children, Toni Eckard and her husband Harvey of Staunton, and Greg Lindamood and his wife Linda of Prosperity, SC; five grandchildren, Shannon Stanley and her husband Tim, Joseph Manders and his wife Lisa, Justin Eckard, Aubree Kuriger and Weston Lindamood; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gum of Lynchburg; and a sister-in-law, Jean Hevener.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
