July 23, 1939 – April 3, 2024
Charles Dale Hisey, 84, husband of Hazel Elizabeth (Helmick) Hisey, of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Hisey was born in Mt. Solon, Virginia on July 23, 1939, a son of the late John Will Hisey and Pauline Virginia (Michael) Hisey.
Charles was a veteran of the United States National Guard and retired from VDOT in 1994 as a Right-Away Appraiser. He was a member of Linden Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with the barbeque chicken fundraisers. In his spare time, Mr. Hisey enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, caring for his fish, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hisey was preceded in death by a brother, John Will Hisey, Jr.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty years, are his sons, Brent Hisey and his wife, Amy of Smith Mountain Lake and Mark W. Hisey and his wife, Laura of Staunton; and a grandson, Colton Jack Hisey.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Luke B. Smith.
Those desiring, may pay their respects between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
Active pallbearers will be his sons, Brent and Mark Hisey, his grandson, Colton Hisey, and Chad Patterson, Art Spedden, Scott Garber and Richard Dickerson.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
The family would like to express a sincere "Thank You" to the staff at Augusta Health for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Hisey.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
