Charles William Charlie Conner, Jr. 84, husband of Jo Ann (Swisher) Conner of Staunton, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Conner was born on January 4, 1929 in Fayette County, West Virginia, the son of the late Charles William, Sr. and Hattie Mae (Serrett) Conner.

Charlie was a member Calvary United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the Staunton News Leader where he was employed as a printer-composer for thirty-eight years. Charlie loved spending time with his family and working in his garden.

Mr. Conner was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, is a son Karl W. Conner and his wife Marcia of Staunton and a grandson, Clarke.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Doug Paysour.

Burial will be private in Mt. Herman Cemetery in Newport.
