Obituary

Charles Everett Charlie Wheeler, 83, husband of Ruth Ann (Fitzgerald) Wheeler, of 47 Mountain View Drive, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Wheeler was born on October 20, 1933 in Laurel Hill, Virginia, a son of the late Edward Blair and Jesse Frances (Wickline) Wheeler.
Charlie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and he retired as an Oil Truck Driver. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wheeler; and seven siblings.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years, is a son, Christopher Wheeler and his wife Becky of Verona; a daughter, Lisa Bottenfield and her husband David of Verona; a daughter-in-law, Penny Wheeler of Verona; two sisters, Charlotte Bateman and Evelyn Saufley, both of Staunton; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Richard), Kelly (Brian), Travis, Tommy (Kierston), Kayla (Trever), Hannah, and Wyatt; and six great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Bottenfield, 1697 Laurel Hill Rd, Verona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Joseph Wamala.
Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Wyatt Wheeler, David Bottenfield, Tommy Bottenfield, Travis Bottenfield, Brian Shifflett, and Richard Colbert.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
