Charles A. "Charlie" Garland, 76, widower of Mildred Clark Garland, of 247 Tinkling Spring Road, Fishersville, went to his heavenly home on Friday, July 22, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Garland was born in Staunton, Virginia on November 13, 1945, a son of the late Norvel Claude Garland and Helen Verlein (Roper) Garland.

Charlie was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from DuPont after 29 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and taking trips to the beach. Mr. Garland was a loving father and grandfather, and a wonderful caregiver to his wife, Mildred, whom he has now joined in heaven.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Garland was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Garland and his son-in-law, Chris Harris.

Surviving, are his four children, Patrick Garland (Amie), Clarence "CG" Clark (Marie), Michele Harris, and Charles Garland, Jr.; three grandchildren, Summer Harris, Lauren Giddens (Drew), and Joey Clark; a brother, Lewis Garland; and his pet dog, Lilly and cat, Bella.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Riverview Cemetery, Waynesboro by Pastor Stacey Burkholder.

The family will receive friends following the service at the residence.

The family would like to expend a special "Thank You" to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and to the Augusta Health Home Care.
