Cecile Marie (Fitzgerald) Cason, 88, widow of Ken Austin Cason, Sr. of Maury Mill Road, Verona passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

Mrs. Cason was born in Greenville, Virginia on January 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Roy Austin Fitzgerald and Claudine (Thompson) Fitzgerald.

Marie was a member of Verona United Methodist Church, and was retired from First Virginia Bank of Augusta as a teller. Marie enjoyed reading her Bible and will be remembered as a "spirited soul".

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Brooker; and three brothers, Sonny Fitzgerald, Lyle Fitzgerald and Benny Fitzgerald.

Surviving is a son, Ken Austin Cason, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Verona; a daughter, Teresa Cason of Seaford, Delaware; a son-in-law, C.J. Brooker of New Bern, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Laura C. Spicer and husband James "Caleb", Steven A. Cason and wife Polly, Christina A. Foote and husband Trevor, Leah M. Flowers and husband Sean, and Daniel J. Brooker and wife Catherine; eight great grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Carter, Taylor, Tristian, Madelyn, Corbin and Charlotte; her twin brother, Mack Fitzgerald of Tennessee; and three sisters, Sharon Miller of Crimora, Betty Fitzgerald of Verona and Shirley Fitzgerald of Verona.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Augusta Memorial Park, by Pastor Shawna Hiner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Marie, to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 or The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 4110, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058.
