Catherine (Key) Moran, 86, widow of William Thomas Moran, Sr. of 105 Essex Dive passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.

Mrs. Moran was born July 21, 1926 in Batesville, a daughter of the late Tucker Calvin and ertie Virginia (Landrum) Key.

Mrs. Moran was a graduate of Fishersville High School and Dunsmore Business College. She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and had retired from Western State Hospital in 1989 where she was an executive secretary with thirty-two years of service. Catherine was a member of AARP Chapter #3842 and served as president and secretary.

In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by three brothers, John T. Key, Franklin C. Key and Charles N. Key and five sisters, Mary Hulvey, Nellie Shurn, Ruth Key, Lucy Key and Edith Painter.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two sons, William Thomas Bill Moran, Jr. and his wife Geneva of Wilson, NC and Douglas Wayne Doug Moran and his wife Kelley of Staunton; a daughter, Angela Fay Cox and her husband Dale of Staunton; five grandchildren, Jessica Sanders, Eric Moran, Luke Moran, Breck Moran and Kristen Cox; a great-grandson, Christopher Sanders and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Hermitage Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Dr. H. Wray Sherman, III.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
