Carolyn Diane (Wilfong) Maxwell, 67, wife of Ronald Lee Maxwell of 1515 Hankey Mountain Highway passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Bridgewater.
Mrs. Maxwell was born in Augusta County on February 14, 1945, a daughter of the late Lawrence M. Wilfong, Sr. and Charlotte Opal (White) Wilfong.
Mrs. Maxwell was a life time member of the Elk Run Church of the Brethren and was retired from the Staunton City Schools system where she was the cafeteria manager. Carolyn enjoyed spending her leisure time camping, going to yard sales, blue grass music, crafting and painting. She was a homemaker and loved to bake and was known for her delicious homemade bread.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence M. Wilfong, Jr. and a sister, Donna Jenkins.
Surviving in addition to her husband of forty-seven years, are three daughters, Kelly E. Maxwell of Roanoke, Katherine S. Maxwell and Kristen Swisher and her husband Jurdy all of Churchville; a brother, Roger Wilfong and his wife Linda of Swoope; three grandchildren, Andrew S. Whitelaw, Alyssa B. Whitelaw and Carlee J. McCray, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2012 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Pete Leddy.
The family will receive friends following the service.
