Carolyn (Phillips) Knicely, 68, wife of Roger D. Knicely of 123 Red Oaks Drive, Staunton went to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Knicely was born on March 3, 1946 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Raymond Grant Phillips and Mabel Virginia (Roberts) Phillips.
Carolyn attended Memorial Baptist Church. She was a 1964 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School; she retired in 2009 with fifteen years of service from the Augusta County Treasurers office as an office clerk and was previously employed with Smiths Transfer. Mrs. Knicely was a volunteer with Augusta Health, she enjoyed going shopping with her family, she enjoyed crafts, playing BINGO and Carolyns favorite pastime was watching TV with her special pet cat Moe on her lap.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Knicely was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Charlotte Bramel.
Surviving in addition to her mother and her husband of forty-nine years are two daughters and sons-in-law; Tammy K. Simmons and her husband David and Dawn K. Parrish and her husband Chuck all of Staunton; three grandchildren; Whitley Simmons and Hannah and Colin Parrish; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and her very close and special pet cat Moe.
The family will receive friends from 6 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, March 20, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of Carolyns life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 in Memorial Baptist Church, by the Rev. Benjamin "Ben" Sprouse and Rev. Dr. William Bill Smith.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Shifflett, Tony Shifflett, Kevin Shifflett, Oscar Shifflett, Bill Glenn, Edward Waitier, Dennis Wolf and Walker Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Root and John Cook.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to the Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center, 500 Martha Jefferson Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
