Carla Louise Hellwig, 68, of Lyndhurst Road in Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Ms. Hellwig was born in Washington D.C. on August 27, 1953, a daughter of the late Carl H. Hellwig and Floramae C. Hellwig.

Carla earned a BS in Criminology at Florida State and progressed to the Fairfax County Police Dept. From there, she found interest in another side of law enforcement eventually becoming a Case Manager/ Liaison for Federal Appellate Cases. She had many outside interests including advocating for CASA, and teaching both Legal Aid and Sunday school.

She was loved by her family and friends, adored by her nieces and nephews, and will be dearly missed.

Surviving, are three sisters, Laura Stagner of Daytona Beach, Florida, Alyce Bonham of Alexandria, Virginia and Amy Walters (Dennis) of Lyndhurst, Virginia; six nieces and four nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Brandon Carter.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
