Carl Hankins "Satch" Fix, 85, husband of Carolyn (Grady) Fix of 110 West Oak Street, Craigsville, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Fix was born on October 30, 1933 in Fordwick, Virginia, a son of the late Herman Luther and Irene Virginia (Campbell) Fix.
Carl was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Craigsville and retired in 1986 after twenty years of service from DuPont. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant, and served on the Craigsville Community Cemetery Committee. In Mr. Fix's younger years, he played Valley League Baseball, pitching for the Staunton Braves and the Craigsville Cardinals, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-three years, are two sons, Jarrett T. Fix and his fiance Niki Lee of Staunton, and Neil A. Fix and his wife Kristi of Staunton; a daughter, Carla F. Harris and her husband Jeff of Staunton; nine grandchildren, Taylor Fix, Krysta Statham and her husband James, Hayley Fix and her friend Ricky Hanger, Brianne Forbes and her husband Nathan, Tori Fix and her friend Tyler Moore, Ryan Fix, Sidney Fix, Wesley Harris, and Nathan Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Leighton Statham and Chloe Forbes.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and the residence at other times.
In honoring the wishes of Mr. Fix, there will be a graveside service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Craigsville Community Cemetery with Pastors Michael Herring and Don Duty.
Active pallbearers will be Carl's grandsons, Ryan Fix, Wesley Harris, Nathan Harris, and James Statham, Ricky Hanger, Nathan Forbes and Tyler Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Meredith Moran and William Sprouse.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
