Callum Braxton Boggs, 27, of Afton, died in his home on Saturday, August 12, 2017 as the result of a senseless, unprovoked attack.
He was born in Charlottesville on March 24, 1990. Callum graduated from Western Albemarle High School and was a student of Oregon State University School of Forestry. He was highly respected by those he worked for and with and always had a smile for everyone he met. Beloved by family and friends, he was incredibly genuine, articulate and always had a unique perspective to share.
Callum was an avid lover of the natural world, music and the written word. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the Callum Braxton Boggs Memorial Fund. Checks should be written to the Charlottesville Albemarle Community Foundation, P. O. Box 1767, Charlottesville, VA 22901 with the name of the fund in the memo line. This will provide support to nonprofit organizations whose focus is on Callums interests including but not limited to forestry and literacy.
He is survived by his wife, Renea, step-daughter Keira and daughter Eva; his parents, Michael and Cyndy Boggs; his siblings and their children: Michelle Lee Boggs and her children Liam, Eden, and Piper Simpson; Richard Wright, his wife Vicki and their children Rick, Chance and Loretta Wright; Catherine Boggs Manis, her husband Aaron and their children Carter and Thomas Manis; Michael T. Boggs II, his fianc Anne Merritt and daughter Ayda Boggs; and Lauren Boggs Meslar, her husband Chris and their children Lennox and Merrick Meslar. He is also survived by grandparents Cecil and Eva Boggs and Dorothy Bailey, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard E. Bailey.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of Callums life will be held at the Barn at Edgewood, 777 Beazley Road, Stanardsville, Virginia 22973 on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. www.barnva.com
