Brenda S. Sprouse
CRAIGSVILLE-
Brenda S. Sissy Sprouse, 53, of 145 Craig St. passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 2, 2011 after a seven month battle with cancer.
Born a daughter to the late Alfred H. Sprouse and Charlotte C. Kershner on June 23, 1957. Granddaughter of the late James E. and Mabel S. Sprouse, she lived her life in their care, and took care of them until death.
On October 27, 1990, Brenda married Donald H. Sprouse, Sr. who survives.
Brenda lived her life in a family unity with Donnie and her two grandchildren, Nathan and Hailey Langgle. Because of her love for her grandchildren and her determination to care for them, she fought the battle of cancer with courage and strength. Her babies whom she adored, were two of the very few who knew of her health. On October 24, as she sat quietly with Nathan and Hailey and explained the reasons she was not feeling well, she told them to do well in school, play ball and live their dreams and her love will always be in their hearts.
Brenda was preceded in death by a brother, Bueford E. Sprouse, a nephew, William Andrew San Whetzel, and a brother-in-law, Danny Halsey.
She leaves behind her brother, Lyle Porky Joe Sprouse and his wife Florence of Churchville; two sisters, Faith A. Dene Halsey of Charlestown, WV and Deb Sprouse of Waynesboro, who was her caregiver in the last days of her life and her support since her diagnosis; five nephews and a niece and her lifelong friend, Barbara Downey of Craigsville; a stepson, Donald H. Sprouse, Jr., of Lakeland, Florida, who was with her. Amanda Z. Tenerowicz and John Q. Zimbro, also survive
A very special thank you to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, Rita Dietz, Carol Showalter, Mary Scott Miller, Mark Westebbe and Kathy Anderson for their sincere care to her. She fell in love with Hospice.
