Obituary

Brenda Jane Santiago, 84, wife of Enrique Santiago, Jr. of Churchville passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Santiago was born in Suffern, New York on February 6, 1939, a daughter of the late Daniel and Marie (Petit) Bull.

Brenda attended Cortland University and Old Dominion College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in education. She taught in the Ramapo School district for twenty-six years. Brenda had a great love for the Newfoundland dog breed. She and her husband, Enrique Santiago, had one of the most well respected Newfoundland (NEWFS) Kennels called "Muddy Creek Newfoundlands" in the country for many years. They both traveled worldwide showing the breed. Brenda later became a AKC judge of the breed, which took them to Australia, Italy, Belgium, France, Mexico, and all across the United States showing and judging the breed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Bull.

In addition to her husband of sixty-five years, she is survived by a sister, Barbera Ragsdale of Scottsdale, AZ; son, Thomas Santiago and his wife, Andrea of Montgomery NY and their children, Thomas, Alexandria, Madison and great-granddaughter, Sterling; son, Timothy Santiago and his significant other, Melissa of Bloomingburg, NY, and grandsons, Timothy Jr. and Christopher; and many nephews, nieces, friends, and colleagues.

Burial will take place at a later date in New York.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
