Obituary

Brenda Sue (Lawhorn) Shackelford, 79, wife of Stanley Earl Shackelford of Betsy Bell Road in Staunton, and formerly of Verona, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at King's Daughters Nursing and Rehab in Staunton.

Mrs. Shackelford was born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 10, 1943, a daughter of the late Charles E. Lawhorn and Vivian Constance (Pendleton) Lawhorn.

Brenda was a member of Staunton Church of the Brethren and the previous owner of Bren's Glamour Haven. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shackelford was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Lawhorn; a sister, Vina Lorainne Crawford; and a grandson, Josh Shackelford.

Surviving, in addition to her husband for forty-four years, are four sons, Douglas K. Schacht of Greenville, SC, Michael "Greg" Schacht and his wife, Christina, of Verona, Jeffrey S. Shackelford of Verona, and Christopher M. Shackelford and his partner, Rich Walton; two sisters, Shirley (Lawhorn) Moran of Staunton and June (Lawhorn) Camper of Montross, VA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastor Beth Jarrett.

The family requests casual attire.
