Obituary

Boyd Lee "Buck"Brown, 81, husband of Mackie Sharon (Andrews) Brown, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born in Fishersville, Virginia on November 3, 1941, a son of the late Charles Monroe and Elsie Lee (Monroe) Brown.

Buck was a devoted Christian and was an active member and deacon at Linden Heights Baptist Church. He was a member of the Job Sunday School Class, Men's Brotherhood Group and served on various committees including the finance and building committees. He was a manager at Lowe's of Staunton for twenty-three years and was co-owner of Staunton Building Supply. Buck enjoyed all sports, especially golf and playing softball in his younger years. He loved and cared for his family dearly and never met a stranger. Buck will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Vera Brown, Charles Brown, Jr., Sara "Mildred" Bower, Alice Staton, Theodore "Foxie" Brown, Thomas Brown, Maynard Brown, and Carolyn Brown.

In addition to his wife of sixty-years, he is survived by his children, Brent Brown and his wife, Kim of Staunton, Kelly Curd and her husband, James of Fishersville, and Mandy Brown and her husband, Stephen Didot of Waynesboro; grandchildren Shawn Brown and his wife, Ashley of Staunton, Bryce Curd and his wife, Kate of Richmond, Kasey Curd and her fiancé, Casey Bost of Charlotte, NC, Ryan Miller of Fishersville, and Kabell Miller and Dylan Oxendine of Roanoke; great-grandchildren Addison Brown, Carter Oxendine, Charlotte Oxendine, Jackson Taylor, Tyson Taylor, and Ryder Taylor; siblings, Hubert Brown of Fishersville, Leonard "Jim" Brown and his wife, Jean of Texas, Dorothy Hancock Hall of Staunton, Lester Brown and his wife, Carol of McDowell, Gary Brown and his wife, Dreama of Greenville, Elizabeth Little and her husband, Mike of Fishersville, Joyce Clatterbaugh and her husband, Vaiden of Churchville; special friends, Melanie and her husband, Niko and Kinsley and Abel Johnson; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in Linden Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Luke Smith and Pastor Larry Strickler officiating.

Burial will follow in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Fishersville.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Jesse, Tracy Bartley, Ken Shoemaker, Scott Almarode, Leland Brown, and David Sheets.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class and Friday Night Card Players.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linden Heights Baptist Church, 371 Linden Drive, Staunton, Virginia 24401.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
