Bobby G. Ellinger
Bobby Glenn Ellinger, 62 of 112 Mulberry Street, Apartment 3, died at his home on Monday, December 1, 2008.
Bobby was born on August 11, 1946, the youngest of two sons, born of the late John Frederick Fred and Virginia (Rowe) Ellinger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Bernie Ellinger who died at the age of four.
Bobby is survived by his companion of twenty-eight years, Martha Edmond and her children, Jimmy Strickler of Craigsville, Michael Strickler of Staunton and Lisa Fitzgerald of Lyndhurst; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Jennifer, Timmy and Andy Strickler, and Rachel, Brandon and Ethan Fitzgerald; eight great-grandchildren; two aunts, Rosie and Ruth Rowe, an uncle, William Bill Ellinger and wife Marie and numerous cousins to include Susan Hughes.
As a child, Bobby regularly attended Mount Tabor Lutheran Church. In his final year of high school, Bobby chose to enlist in the United States Navy and served three years during the Vietnam War. Bobby retired from the city of Staunton after 18 years of service. During his tenure for the city, Bobby most enjoyed taking care of the animals at Gypsy Hill Park. His love of nature was his real passion. Bobby truly loved being with his friends, hunting fishing and enjoying a cold beer on a summer day. He looked forward to hunting season and spending time with his friends, especially Lonnie Shields, Danny Gayhart and his wife Pat. They shared friendships that few are privileged to have. Bobby and Martha were blessed to have shared their love and passion of life together. If success is measured by how much love and friendship a person receives through life, then Bobby completed his life a very successful man.
The family would like to thank Dr. Prucha and his staff, AMC Home Health and Hospice for their support and guidance, as well as all the other friends of the family who have given love and compassion during this difficult time.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (December 5, 2008) in the Grubert Ave. Church of God in Staunton with Rev. Wayne Collier officiating.
