Billy G. Riley, 78, husband of Margaret (Burroughs) Riley, of Staunton passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Riley was born on October 7, 1940 in Deerfield, a son of the late Marvin M., Sr. and Carrie (Cale) Riley.
Mr. Riley was employed with Smith's Transfer and later with Truck \u0026 Equipment of Harrisonburg as a mechanic. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union #29, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. "He will be remembered as an excellent friend and neighbor."
In addition to his parents Mr. Riley was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin M. Riley, Jr., Stanley Riley and Louis Riley; two sisters, Rose Mary Burgandine and Barbara Bryant.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years is a son Billy J. Riley and his wife Johnna of Deerfield; a daughter, Katreena M. Crookshanks and her husband Geoff of Harrisonburg; a brother, Franklin Riley of Churchville; two sisters, Bonnie Graham and her friend Timmy Hedricks of Deerfield and Connie Johnson and her husband Harry of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Patsy Riley of Staunton; a brother-in-law, James Bryant of Staunton; seven grandchildren, Aaron Riley, Ethan Riley and wife Taive, Jesse Riley, Nathaniel Riley, Micah Riley, John Mark Riley and Olivia Crookshanks; and one great grandson, Ryan Riley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory by Pastor John Ward.
Burial will follow in Deerfield Community Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Aaron Riley, Ethan Riley, Jesse Riley, Nathaniel Riley, Randy Riley and Geoff Crookshanks.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Deerfield Baptist Church, 105 Marble Valley Road, Deerfield, VA 24432.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
