Obituary

Betty Kay Long, 73, of Churchville, passed away on Thursday March 28, 2024 at her residence.

Ms. Long was born in Mt. Solon, Virginia on July 23, 1950, a daughter of the late Quinton Long and Charlene (Howdyshell) Long.

Betty retired as a supervisor from Perdue but was always a farm girl at heart. She enjoyed traveling to Tennessee and taking care of others.

Surviving, are her adopted children, Kelly Michele Thompson and Brian Wayne Thompson; four sisters, Louise Grady (Bill), Linda Long, Phyllis Nelson (Keith), and Bonnie Loan; grandchildren, Dylynn Lee Thompson and Lauren Grace Carter; nieces and nephews, Lenford Grady (Karen), Wilamena Harback (Dave), Phillip Nelson (Rick), Kevin Nelson (Dianne), Holly Guthrie (Michael), and Quinton Long, II; numerous great-nieces and great- nephews; and "her" dog, "El-Lee".

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor Greg Culpen.

Active pallbearers will be Lenford Grady, Kevin Nelson, Phillip Nelson, Michael Guthrie, Preston Woods, and Quinton Long.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
