Betty Jane (Hanger) Lancaster, 85, wife of Clifton Ray Lancaster formerly of Ridgemont Drive passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Brightview of Baldwin Park.
Mrs. Lancaster was born January 27, 1929 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Cecil F. and Lucy Olive (Harris) Hanger.
Betty was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church where she served on the Pastor Parrish Committee. She was past President of the Staunton Junior Womans Club, she enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and liked to cook. During Bettys life she was a secretary for several professionals in Staunton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jane Rae Lancaster.
Mrs. Lancaster was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of sixty-three years, is a son, Joseph F. Lancaster and wife Lerma of Staunton; two grandchildren, Sgt. Raymond J. Lancaster and wife Victoria and Vanessa M. Lancaster; and a great granddaughter, Desirae Lancaster.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Taylor C. Mertins. The family will receive friends following the service.
A private burial will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke.
