Betty Lou (Holcomb) Karicofe, 76, of Staunton passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Karicofe was born on October 9, 1940 in Staunton, a daughter of the late William Whitten and Mary Evelyn (Hodges) Holcomb.

Betty was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church and she retired from Western State Hospital with 17 years of service as an office clerk.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Karicofe was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Holcomb and George Bill Holcomb; and a sister, Lucille Hull.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Allen Karicofe and his wife Lucille and Stacy Douglas Karicofe and his wife Holly all of Staunton; four grandchildren, Christopher Karicofe, Shawn Karicofe, Loren Karicofe and Garret Karicofe; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Karicofe; two sisters, Geraldine Wamsley of Roanoke and Barbara Shaver of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with Bettys wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
