Betty Jane (Hearn) Hipes, 90, widow of Floyd Leslie Hipes and formerly of Greenville and Waynesboro Manor Assisted Living passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2014 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Hipes was born in Logan County, West Virginia on October 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Walter W. and Garnet Margaret (Givens) Hearn.

Betty retired in 1994 from Kroger Stores where she worked in the deli. She was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed cooking for her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hipes was preceded

in death by two sons, Roger Leslie Hipes and Patrick Lee Hipes; a great-granddaughter, Christina Nicole Hipes; and six brothers.

Mrs. Hipes was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving is a son, Freddie Michael Mike Hipes and his wife Dolly of Fishersville; a daughter-in-law, Carol Hipes of Smith Mountain Lake; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
