Betty Lou (Beasley) Clagett, 63, beloved wife of Hugh Caldwell Clagett, Jr. of 297 Forest Springs Drive, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at VCU Hospital in Richmond.
Betty Lou was born on September 13, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Amos Oven and Constance Pauline (Smith) Beasley. Prior to moving to Virginia, Betty Lou was the Head Nurse at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Betty Lou moved to Virginia in 1998 where she met her husband and eventually retired from her employment as a Deli Manager at Food Lion. In her retirement, she greatly enjoyed traveling and watching fireworks with her husband. Betty Lou had a deep appreciation of the South, including a fondness for country music, cooking southern comfort food (especially fried green tomatoes), and the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
In addition to her husband of twelve years, Betty Lou is survived by her two sisters Judy Gurganus and Patricia Williams of Mt. Olive, Alabama; two step-daughters, Nichole C. Clagett of Alexandria, Virginia and Danielle A. Clagett of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Warren Knott. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
