Bertie Frances (Ward) Sprouse, 82, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023 in Fishersville.

Bertie was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on April 24, 1940, a daughter of the late William Henry Ward and Gertie Frances (Desper) Ward.

Bertie formerly worked at Genicom and retired from Hollister of Stuarts Draft. She was a faithful member of the Aero Drive Church of God for more than 50 years, helping to lead many people to Christ.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, playing games and giving to others with her time and money. Bertie also spent a lot of her time visiting the elderly and the shut-ins.

In addition to her parents, Bertie was preceded in death by her son, Larry Alan Sprouse and a sister, Bonnie Ann Connor.

Surviving, is a son, William Kenneth "Kenny" Sprouse and his wife, Ruth Ann; a granddaughter, Kelly Renee Sprouse; a grandson, Joshua "Josh" Ryan Sprouse and his wife, Kelsey Sprouse; a great-grandson, Wesley "Beau" Sprouse; two sisters, Janet Fretwell and Shelby Hailey and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Aero Drive Church of God by Pastor Daniel Hines and Dale Raynes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Sprouse, Artie Cason, Tony Blake, Vinny Pugliese, Pat Pugliese, and Thomas Pugliese.

Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Fisher, Brian Breeden, and Bob Cason.

The family would like to offer a special "Thank you" to all who helped care for her over the last couple years of her life, including the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
