Bernard Emmanual Whitlock, 86, of Miller Street passed away Wednesday, Augusta 20, 2014 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Whitlock was born January 9, 1928 in Nelson County, a son of the late Charles and Mary Whitlock.
Bernard was a veteran in the United States Army and was a cook at Mary Baldwin College.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are a son, Alfred W. Wardy and his wife, Brenda of Miami, OK; a daughter, Venetia Kelley of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hall of Roanoke; step-sons, Quinton Wardy and Winfred Hawkins and wife Laura; and a special granddaughter and care giver, Athena Hall; special grandson, William Hall; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his granddaughter, Athena Hall.
A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Edward Scott.
